Malaysia is currently witnessing an unprecedented boom in infrastructure development, establishing itself as a key logistics and industrial hub in Southeast Asia. Driven by the government's visionary transport master plans, massive railway projects are cutting across the peninsula. Mega-scale initiatives such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (MRT3 Circle Line), the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS Link), and the ongoing expansion of the LRT Shah Alam Line demand state-of-the-art rail jointing solutions. Continuous Welded Rail (CWR) technology has become the standard for these modern transport networks to guarantee high-speed stability, passenger comfort, and reduced track wear.
The tropical climate of Malaysia, characterized by high humidity, frequent heavy downpours, and consistent heat, requires specialized welding tool kits and consumables that can resist moisture degradation while maintaining structural integrity under extreme temperature cycles.
Beyond passenger transit, Malaysia's industrial sector relies heavily on robust heavy-haul tracks. Major seaports like Port Klang, the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) in Johor, and Kuantan Port operate massive container terminals where gantry cranes run on heavy-duty crane rails. Any failure in these rail joints halts logistics operations, costing millions in delays. Therefore, the demand for highly reliable thermit welding kits, including precision mould clamps, one-shot crucibles, and high-performance welding powder, has skyrocketed across domestic industrial zones, linking local contractors with world-class Chinese manufacturing expertise.
RMTS is a manufacturer specializing in railroad thermit welding materials, based in Tianjin, China. Whether you are looking for reliable thermit welding materials, expert training, or project support, RMTS is your trusted partner in achieving welding excellence.

Traditional crucibles produce massive smoke and chemical residue. The Malaysian Department of Environment (DOE) is pushing for cleaner construction methods. Technologies like our One Shot Crucible minimize waste and hazardous fumes, aligning with local green building standards.
With the KTM Komuter and ETS (Electric Train Service) extending their routes and speeds, tracks must withstand higher dynamic loads. High-purity thermite powder mixtures are vital to prevent internal defects and track breakages under continuous stress.
Malaysian rail operators are shifting from reactive repairs to predictive maintenance. Fast-execution welding tool kits, portable rail grinding machines, and hydraulic tensioners allow maintenance teams to work efficiently during limited 3-to-4-hour midnight track closure windows.
RMTS's strong R&D abilities, coupled with its involvement in railway projects, demonstrate the company's commitment to providing advanced thermit welding solutions that meet the specific demands of the railway industry.
RMTS has a highly skilled R&D team that works tirelessly to ensure that we produce thermit welding materials that meet the specific needs of each type of rail, including localized profiles used in Malaysian transit systems.
In addition to its strong R&D capabilities, RMTS actively participates in railway projects across China and abroad. The company collaborates with railway authorities, construction companies, and maintenance organizations to provide its expertise and materials for various projects.
By participating in railway projects, RMTS contributes to the development and maintenance of extensive railway networks. Whether in high-speed rail, urban transit systems, or conventional rail lines, RMTS offers its thermit welding materials and services to ensure the integrity and safety of the rail infrastructure.
Furthermore, RMTS maintains partnerships with research institutions, universities, and industry experts in China. These collaborations enable RMTS to strengthen its R&D capabilities in thermit welding technologies continually.
To understand the practical deployment of our welding tool kits, we look at three critical localized scenarios where RMTS products and services ensure operations run smoothly without interruption:
Heavy container cranes exert immense vertical and lateral forces on the rails. Our high-temperature crucible caps and precision mould clamps are deployed during routine maintenance to weld joint gaps seamlessly. The result is a smooth, continuous track that prevents crane wheels from wearing down, saving thousands in heavy equipment repairs.
Urban transit demands zero noise and vibration. Using RMTS high-quality thermite welding powder and high-precision luting sand, municipal engineers execute welds that eliminate joints. This significantly reduces the structural noise transmitted to surrounding commercial blocks in downtown Kuala Lumpur.
The East Coast Rail Link traverses dense tropical rainforests with extreme humidity. RMTS moisture-resistant packaging for thermite portion and ignitors ensures that the materials initiate perfectly, even in damp outdoor environments, maintaining high tensile strength across the entire rail line.
We offer advanced methods to suit different project lifetimes and budget targets:

Our main markets are in areas such as railway main lines, seaport crane rails, subways, trams, and high-speed railways. Aluminothermic welding plays a crucial role in these fields. No matter the scenario, RMTS welding technology, with its excellent performance, serves as a powerful support for promoting industry development and ensuring operational safety.

Aluminum thermite welding, also known as aluminothermic welding or thermit welding, is a specialized welding technique that utilizes a chemical reaction to generate intense heat for joining steel/aluminum components.
Preparation: Step 1. Ensure the rail ends to be welded are clean, free from rust, and properly aligned. The gap size (space between two rails to be welded) shall be 26±2mm to guarantee complete fusion of the molten metal.
Thermit welding materials will fail if exposed to water. All welding materials should be kept away from any moisture in storage, as well as during the active welding process. Dry conditions are vital to prevent gas porosity in the joint.
Thermit welding, also known as aluminothermic welding, requires careful handling and storage of its materials to ensure safety and optimal performance. Store in dry, locked rooms away from open flames or high moisture.
Thermit portion, sand mould, luting sand, and ignitor are the main consumables for aluminothermic welding. 1 weld = 1 set of consumables.
Example calculation for a 10km project using 12.5m long rails:
Calculation: 10,000m / 12.5m × 2 rails = 1,600 sets of consumables required.
